Disappointed, but not surprised. That’s how former President Donald Trump responded to Taylor Swift’s viral endorsement of his opponents.
During a phone call with Fox News on Wednesday morning, Trump said he believes the pop star will “pay a price” for supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
“I was not a fan of Taylor Swift. It was just a matter of time,” Trump said. “She is a very liberal person. She seems to always support a Democrat and she will probably pay a price for that in the marketplace.”

Trump also said Swift “cannot endorse Biden,” despite the fact that she did exactly that in 2020. She also became a billionaire under President Joe Biden, as noted Consequence.
In the interview, Trump added that he likes Swift’s recent friend and fellow NFL WAG Brittany Mahomes — the wife of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes — “a lot more” than Swift. Brittany Mahomes has previously expressed support for Trump on social media.
In her support for Harris and Walz, Swift called Harris a “fighter” who stands up for the rights and causes she believes in. She also praised Walz’s record of promoting LGBTQ+ rights, access to in vitro fertilization, and women’s rights.
Swift also admitted that Trump posted AI-generated images that falsely depicted her supporting him.

“This has really raised my concerns about AI and the dangers of spreading disinformation,” she wrote. “It’s led me to the realization that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat disinformation is with the truth.”
This is not the first time Trump has commented on Swift and her political views.
Earlier this year in an interview for the book The Student in WonderlandTrump called Swift “extraordinarily beautiful” and questioned whether she is “legitimately liberal.”
“She probably doesn’t like Trump,” he said. “I hear she’s very talented.”
