DLCC backs up its words with actions.
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced a $500,000 investment to facilitate Democrats defend their majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
The investment is part of $2.2 million in funding in key states across the country as part of DLCC’s “Summer of the States” campaign. The funding is expected to facilitate with staffing, digital investments, and field operations, to name a few.
“Democrats’ control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives has been a bulwark against MAGA extremism — and this key defense will be on the ballot in November,” said DLCC president Heather Williams“Democrats must be prepared to compete with Trump allies in states that are rallying around Project 2025, and at DLCC we are working overtime to make sure all Democrats understand what is at stake. Pennsylvania Republicans are one seat away from taking full control of the legislature, where they will certainly implement Trump’s MAGA agenda. DLCC’s investment will support Pennsylvania Democrats as they run strong campaigns to determine the future of Pennsylvania.”
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is now evenly split, 100-100, following the resignation Donna Bullock Representatives (D-Philadelphia) and Stephen Kinsey (D-Philadelphia). GOP caucus absent Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin), who is overseas with the Pennsylvania National Guard. While the Philadelphia district seats are expected to be won by Democrats in a special election in September, the DLCC is hopeful the state’s lower house will remain in blue hands.
The group also identified 19 state lawmakers – 15 in the House of Representatives and four in the Senate – in their Spotlight Series as Target Races will serve as a focal point as DLCC works to expand Democratic power and deliver the progress Pennsylvanians deserve.
“As an arm of the Democratic Party whose sole mission is to set the national agenda in state legislatures, the work of the DLCC is paramount to defeating Trump and his allies at the polls. We cannot take our eyes off the stakes in this election: democracy and fundamental freedoms are on the line in November,” Williams added.
