According to unofficial data, US Republican Chris Deluzio (D-17th district) won re-election in the southwestern district of Pennsylvania. The Associated Press called the race around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to unofficial results available on the Allegheny County elections website as of 12:35 Deluzio won 53.7% of the vote compared to his GOP competitor, state Rep. Rob Mercuri (R-Allegheny), who had 46.3%.
Deluzio was elected to Congress in 2022, defeating Republican Jeremy Shaffer in the newly elected 17th District, which was vacated by Democratic incumbent Conor Lamb to seek the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Lamb lost in the primary to John Fetterman.
Although Republicans had targeted Deluzio for the seat from the beginning, he regularly raised more money than Mercuri, according to quarterly campaign finance reports.
Deluzio did not immediately comment on the situation Wednesday morning.
