Former presidents and their spouses receive for life the protection of secret service in accordance with federal law, but protection provided them with their immediate families over 16 years of age when they were leaving the office. But outgoing presidents can extend protection to those who otherwise they could not qualify for six months after leaving the office, something that Biden did for their children, and Trump did for his family after leaving the office in 2021.

“We are aware of the president’s decision to dissolve the protection of Hunter and Ashley Biden,” said the agency in a statement. “Secret service will follow and actively cooperates with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible.”

While visiting John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Monday afternoon, the reporter asked Trump if he would cancel the protection of the son of the former president.

“Well, we did it with many.

“I will look at it,” he said.
