Tony FabrizioTrump campaign pollster sent a memo to staffers to allay any concerns about a so-called “Harris honeymoon.”
With the ascent Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of the Democratic ticket, up-to-date polls have favored the former California prosecutor and senator.
Fabrizio, however, warned Trump’s team not to be influenced by the numbers.
“As I explained, the honeymoon will be a manifestation of the ubiquitous attention Harris is receiving from the mainstream media,” Fabrizio wrote. “The coverage will be largely positive and will certainly energize Democrats and some other parts of their coalition, at least in the short term.”
AND poll from The Economist/YouGov showed the former president Donald Trump with a 44-41% lead over Harris in the survey conducted July 21-23. Given the margin of error of +/- 3.1%, the race could be considered too close to predict.
“Of course, the situation we’re in is completely uncharted territory and has no contemporary historical parallel,” he continued. “But there are some things that haven’t changed. The fundamentals of the race remain the same. Soon, Harris’ honeymoon period will end, and voters will once again focus on her role as Biden’s running mate and co-pilot.”
“So while the polls may change in the short term and she may consolidate a slightly larger portion of the Democratic base, Harris cannot change who she is or what she has done.”
