The moderate GOP group is supporting Democrat Stelson over incumbent Perry in PA-10

True to its name, the moderate GOP group “Republicans Against Perry” opposes it Rep. Scott Perry and supporting the Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson for a seat in the 10th Congressional District.

Stating that 96 percent of its members support the move, the group is unveiling a up-to-date digital ad aimed at the seven-term congressman.

“There were almost enough Trump/Stelson split voters in 2024 to unseat extremist Congressman Scott Perry” – Republican Party Director Against Perry Craig Snyder – wrote in the statement.

“This year, with Governor Shapiro at the top of the ticket and many Republicans questioning the real impact of MAGA policies on our lives, Perry will be picked up by the people of Central Pennsylvania.”

Perry, former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, defeated Stelson by just over 5,000 votes in a district that President Donald Trump they won five points in the 2024 general election.

30-second ad “Scott Perry: Bad for Pennsylvania” is funded by Welcome PACwhose activities are electoral in nature – identifying and supporting bold, pragmatic Democrats running for federal office. WelcomePAC wants to expand the Democratic tent to bring more House districts into play.

The ad is critical of Perry for his support for reopening the former Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant in Middletown, renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center by Constellation Energy.

Never before has a completely shut down nuclear power plant been restarted in the country. The project faces regulatory hurdles, but the Trump administration has made it a priority, worrying some residents that work may be moving too quickly.

“I am proud to launch the Crane Clean Energy Center,” Perry said in September 2024 when signing a 20-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft. “This critical step forward will provide Pennsylvania with enough baseload capacity to meet its needs for decades to come while creating 3,400 jobs in our community.”

In May, Perry visited the Crane facility with his team US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgumwho touted the possible restart of the plant as key to increasing the country’s power generation capacity.

“It will provide reliable, affordable energy when we reopen in about a year, replacing most of the energy removed from our grid while creating more than 650 permanent jobs,” Perry said in social media post. “I am also pleased to report that private sector investment has given this grand old giant new life as a hub for affordable, clean and reliable energy, another success story in helping America regain its energy dominance.”
