
Harrisburg, PA – April 1, 2025 – Senator Vincent Hughes announced a simultaneous resolution that concerns cuts to the social security administration and harmful operational updates, which are conducted by the compulsory Commissioner Dudek and Doge Elona Muska. Senator Hughes encouraged his colleagues from the Senate on both sides of the nave to sign in the resolution, to show their involvement in ensuring the benefits of social security, which he earned and relied on.
Over 2.9 million Pennsylvania receive over 62 billion dollars a year social security benefits, which makes the program for the Community of Nations in Commonwealth. Of these recipients, about 150,000 are children, and over 660,000 were raised above the poverty line due to social insurance.
Social insurance is the main source of income for about 40% of older Americans.
“Social insurance is a life line for millions of Pennsylvania and there is assault,” said Senator Hughes. “We see the effort of decimating the system, hindering people checking, undermining the system, and then completely tearing it out. We must get up and push back from this attack.”
