Allentown, PA – January 30, 2025 – After the announcement of “Lightning Plan” of Governor Shapiro, Senator Nick Miller, chairman of the democratic policy, issued the following statement:
The “Energy Plan of the Governor Shapiro is a brave, healthy approach that priority treats affordability, reliability and creation of jobs – exactly what Pennsylvania needs. With the increase in energy consumption and growing requirements on our network, the lightning plan takes the necessary steps to modernize our infrastructure, improve the design of the project and invest in various energy sources. This plan is consistent with the discussions that we conducted at the hearing in the Senate Committee of Democratic Policy, in which experts emphasized the urgent need for future energy policy. By creating a reset commission to accelerate energy projects, updating tax incentives to stimulate investments and make sure that 70% of Pacer revenues will go to consumers, the governor’s proposal is the right balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility. In addition, concentration on community energy discounts and ACT 129 will provide direct relief for households and small enterprises struggling with growing costs. I am looking forward to cooperation with my colleagues to develop politicians who keep energy at an affordable price, protect consumers and position Pennsylvania as a leader in the energy economy of the future. ”
