Senator Muth appointed Democratic Chairman of the Committee on Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness

HARRISBURG January 17, 2025 − State Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) has been reappointed Democratic Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee for the 2025–2026 legislative session.

As of 2021, Senator Muth serves as Minority Chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.

“I am honored to once again serve as chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, where I can advocate for our veterans, National Guard members, first responders and all emergency personnel,” Muth said. “I look forward to continuing to work on initiatives that will ensure our veterans have access to appropriate programs and services that will help them through all stages of civilian life; ensure that the PA National Guard continues its legacy of having one of the largest and most skilled Guardsmen in the country by increasing benefits and opportunities for Guard members and their families; and bills that will ensure our first responders have adequate funding, access to mental health services and the tools they need to serve and protect our communities.”

In addition to serving as Minority Leader, Senator Muth will also serve as a member of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee; Finance Committee; State Government Committee; and the Community Development, Economic and Recreation Committee.

The Senate returns to session later this month, on Monday, January 27, at 1 p.m
