Secretary for Health and Social Welfare Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On Thursday, he announced wide cuts to his department, the last step of Trump’s administration to dramatically reduce the size of the workforce and the duties of the federal government.
Kennedy plans to reduce 10,000 employees in accordance with HHS. Reductions in conjunction with other departments from purchase mean that the agency will employ 62,000 employees, compared to 82,000.
Kennedy also intends to improve the department, consolidating his 28th division at 15 and cut regional offices from 10 to five.
The department will create a fresh administration for the Healthy American Department. HHS claims that changes will reduce costs by $ 1.8 billion a year.
“We level the organization of its basic mission and our new priorities in reversing the epidemic of a chronic disease,” said Kennedy in a statement. “This department will do more – much more – at lower costs for the taxpayer.”
Wall Street Journal for the first time announced Kennedy’s plans.
Kennedy, an outstanding skeptical vaccine with unconventional views on many public health problems, swore to transform the department and policy of the federal government, under what the Agenda Make America Healthy Again called the agenda.
In his role he has control over agencies, including Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, providing him with supervision over the approval of fresh drugs, vaccine recommendations and public health tips. HHS constitutes about a quarter of the federal budget by controlling federal insurance programs for the elderly and low income.
Movements will probably attract an explosion from democrats and supporters of public health, already worried about the scope of federal cuts of the Trump administration, directed by the efficiency of Elon Musk’s government Elon Musk.
Critics warn that the cuts of federal health programs risk that they affect food safety, vaccine development and approved treatment.
