U.S. Congresswomen Summer Lee (D-12th District) and Ayanna Presley (D-Massachusetts) will hold a rally in Pittsburgh on Wednesday to highlight Vice President Kamala Harris’ record on reproductive rights. That’s the same day former President Donald Trump will campaign in Harrisburg.
Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, has led the Biden administration’s response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. In March, Harris was first vice president to visit an abortion clinicIn May, she campaigned at Salus University in Montgomery County — when Biden was still at the top of the ticket — talking with actress Sheryl Lee Ralph about Trump’s views on abortion.
“If you want to know who is to blame for where we are now, the finger can be pointed squarely at the former president,” Harris said in May.

Abortion is legal up to 24 weeks of pregnancy in Pennsylvania, and Gov. Josh Shapiro is a powerful supporter of reproductive rights.
Both Pressley and Lee were also staunch supporters of abortion rights, and Pressley served as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Pro Choice Group‘ Abortion Rights and Access Working Group. Lee is a member of the Pro Choice Caucus. Pressley is also a founding member of the House’s Stop Project 2025 working group.
Leeward AND Presley both supported Harris’ candidacy for president.
Project 2025 is the Heritage Foundation’s conservative plan for a second Trump term, which outlines goals such as passing the strictest abortion ban the next Republican administration can get through Congress and lowering the corporate tax rate. Trump, the GOP presidential candidate, has sought to distance himself from the proposal.
Trump himself has boasted about appointing three conservative Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade, and has said he wants states to oversee abortion laws.
