Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s schedules include events in Texas and Pennsylvania on July 31

Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Houston on Wednesday, while former President Donald Trump will return to Pennsylvania for his first rally in the state since surviving the attempted assassination in Butler earlier this month.

Harris is scheduled to speak Wednesday at the 60th International Biennial of Boulé Sigma Gamma Rho in Houston, the White House announced. Founded in 1922, Sigma Gamma Rho is one of nine historically black sororities and fraternities commonly referred to as the Divine Nine. Harris herself is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., another Divine Nine organization.

Vice President performance at the Sigma Gamma Rho event will be her third appearance in Texas in the past month and her second speech at the Divine Nine convention since launching her presidential campaign. Harris was in Indiana last week to speak at Zeta Phi Beta’s Grand Boulé in Indianapolis. And before President Joe Biden decided not to seek reelection, she gave the commencement address at Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Boulé in Dallas.

In addition to her appearance at Sigma Gamma Rho, Harris is scheduled to speak at a separate political event in Houston at 6:15 p.m., the White House said.

Sheila Jackson Lee (D., Texas), who died of cancer earlier this month, according to the White House.

Harris’ campaign had no Pennsylvania events on its calendar as of Tuesday afternoon. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is, however, scheduled to meet with key Harris allies at two events in the Hamptons over the weekend, amid reports that he is being considered a leading contender to be her vice presidential candidate, according to New York Times AND CNBC.

Trump, meanwhile, will be in Pennsylvania on Wednesday for a rally at Harrisburg’s Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. The indoor event comes less than three weeks after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., opened fire at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, killing former Buffalo Township Fire Chief Corey Comperatore and wounding Trump and two others.
