Hundreds of former federal employees submitted a request for free places in the State Government of Pennsylvania, because the Josh Shapiro government signed an executive order two weeks ago, which gives them the preference to hiring jobs among dismissals and dismissals in all working strength.
From Monday, Commonwealth received about 1,100 applications from about 700 people with experience in the federal working force, said Daniel Egan, spokesman for the Administration Office.
Applicants are still in the process of employment and it is not clear how many of these 700 have recently been unemployed by the federal government.
Shapiro, Democrat, signed an ordinance on March 5 Directing state agencies for preferential treatment of employment with dismissed federal employees, many of which have skills transferable to the state government.
People who worked with similar or equivalent workplaces in the federal government would be considered “pre -qualified” for a more effective employment time, said Shapiro during a press conference announcing the executive order.

The community created a landing Website on the State website where federal employees can see recruitment needs in Pennsylvania. Egan said that the number of job offers changes day by day along with adding or removing posts. Egan said that from Monday afternoon there were 665 job offers on the site, and one sending can be used to complete a few vacancies of the same position.
The most significant positions used by people who worked in the federal government include “claims from compensation for unemployed receiving interviewers”, “Driving license examiner” and “Clerical Assistant”, in accordance with the list of the Administrative Office. Other popular positions include administrative positions and workplaces in the field of public health, IT technologies or parks.
In 2024, the Federal Government employed about 103,700 Pennsylvanians, but “due to recent events of many experienced and talented public officials … it may be unemployed or looking for new employment”, in accordance with Shapiro’s executive ordinance.
“As the Governor of Shapiro explained, this undertaking is not a charity,” said Egan in a statement on Monday. “This is an opportunity to take advantage of the availability of experience and talent to potentially fill critical free jobs that we have here in the community of nations – and we will work to ensure that we maximize this opportunity.”
Other nearby states emphasized their own procedures for introducing dismissed federal employees in state positions.
The Department of Work in New Jersey outlined their unemployment and career services, because the inhabitants still encounter the impact of governmental dismissals. And, like Pennsylvania, Maryland Democratic Governor Wes Moore began the initiative of recruitment of dismissed federal employees to work for this state.
