Harris-Walz Campaign in Maryland; Trump-Vance Heads to Pennsylvania

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is set to focus on Democratic strongholds on Wednesday, while former President Donald Trump’s camp will head to key battleground states that captured both candidates’ attention earlier this election season.

Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is scheduled to appear in Denver and Boston on Wednesday as part of a five-state tour, his first solo campaign trip since being elected Democratic vice president last week. The stops follow a campaign stop in Los Angeles at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees convention on Tuesday, The Hill reported.

Harris and Walz embarked on an introductory tour focused on battleground states last week after Walz was added to the ticket, starting with a stop at the Liacouras Center in North Philadelphia. Trump’s vice presidential candidate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R., Ohio), followed the Harris-Walz ticket into battleground states, beginning his trek at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, second-rate Doug Emhoff will also campaign on Harris’ behalf on Wednesday, with appearances planned in Chicago and Glencoe, Ill., the White House announced. Emhoff was also scheduled to speak at a campaign event in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Harris herself will appear in Prince George’s County, Maryland, on Thursday. She is expected to be joined by President Joe Biden, marking the pair’s first joint campaign stop since Biden announced he was dropping out of the race last month. Harris and Biden will discuss “the progress they’ve made to lower costs for the American people,” the White House said. Harris will then speak at a campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday.

Trump is scheduled for Wednesday rally in Asheville, North Carolinawhere he will deliver a speech at Harrah’s Cherokee Center at 4 p.m., according to his campaign website. At the rally, Trump will discuss “the economic hardships created by the Harris-Biden administration,” his campaign said in a statement.

Since Trump is in North Carolina, Vance is scheduled to visit Byron Center, Michigan. There, Vance will deliver a speech at 2 p.m. at Cordes, Inc., a local family-owned trucking company, according to Trump’s campaign website.

Vance will turn his attention back to Pennsylvania on Thursday, with a planned stop at a VFW post in New Kensington in Westmoreland County. Vance is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m., and doors to the event will open at 7 a.m., the Trump campaign announced Tuesday.

Trump will return to Pennsylvania on Saturday for a rally in Wilkes-Barre at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. It will be his second appearance in Pennsylvania since surviving an assassination attempt in Butler County last month. Trump previously stopped in Harrisburg on July 31.

Trump also said he would return to Butler for a rally honoring Corey Comperatore, the former Buffalo Township fire chief who was killed in the July 13 shooting, and two others injured in the shooting. In a conversation with Elon Musk at X Spaces on Monday, Trump indicated his campaign would return to Butler in October.

Additionally, Trump claimed over the weekend that ABC’s planned September 10 presidential debate would take place at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The location and venue for that event have not yet been confirmed, the network reported to The Inquirer.
