With former President Donald Trump scheduled to attend Sunday night’s game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, the Democratic National Committee has planned a billboard across from the stadium criticizing his record in the Keystone State.
The billboard will be displayed on Reedsdale Street on the North Shore, a tiny distance from the stadium. The display reads “Trump has been a disaster for AP” along with statistics about his economic history during his term as president.
Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement Saturday that Trump was scheduled to attend the game “as a guest of an individual suite owner” and that the team was cooperating with the Secret Service and local authorities on security. Lauten said the team encouraged fans to arrive early for the game, which will celebrate the Steelers’ 50th anniversary at Super Bowl IX.
“Donald Trump is shamelessly acting by visiting Pittsburgh after failing the city’s manufacturing economy and watching hundreds of thousands of hard-working Pennsylvanians lose their jobs — all while lining the pockets of his billionaire and corporate friends,” DNC spokeswoman Stephanie Justice said in a statement . “In November, Pittsburgh voters will act as a steel curtain and deny Trump a path back to the White House.”
Trump held a rally in Latrobe on Saturday, and before the Steelers game, he plans to visit a McDonald’s in Bucks County and hold a town hall meeting in Lancaster.
Both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are focusing on Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes as a path to the White House. Recent polls show the candidates in a virtual tie with each other as the campaign approaches its final days.
The deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania for the November election is October 21.
