Conservative radio hosts reported in Philadelphia on Wednesday morning that former President Donald Trump experienced unfair treatment during Tuesday’s debate — first from moderators for debunking his claim that immigrants eat pets, then from Vice President Kamala Harris for wearing hidden headphones implanted in her earrings.
The hosts said these perceived insults put Trump at a significant disadvantage and helped Harris’ performance.
WNTP-990 AM’s Mike Gallagher was particularly outraged by David Muir, one of ABC’s moderators, who dismissed Trump’s claim that Haitian immigrants are eating neighbors’ animals in Springfield, Ohio.
“They eat dogs,” Trump said from his podium. “They eat cats.”
Muir told Trump that the reports indicated the story was not true. Gallagher vehemently disagreed on his show, saying, “ABC lied.” He then expanded on the false version of events, adding, “I heard Haitian migrants are walking around with dead geese. Spare me the chest-beating for Harris.”
In his most furious tirade yet, Gallagher made it clear that he was upset that moderators had failed to address the Trump assassination attempt.
“Not a word about him almost getting killed!” Gallagher said. “We need to kiss Kamala Harris’ ass a few more times.”
Sarcastically complimenting Harris, he quickly added, “Those earrings are beautiful,” referring to unconfirmed internet rumor that Harris was wearing the so-called Nova H1 Audio Earrings — wireless headphones embedded in a pair of pearl earrings that supposedly allowed her access to coaching from her staff during the debate. The earrings, in fact may be unavailable for sale, according to Newsweek, which debunked the rumor.
Later on his show, Gallagher criticized singer Taylor Swift for supporting harris on Tuesday night, calling her a “big idiot.”
Debunking reports that Harris had won the debateGallagher told his listeners: “Don’t believe the hysteria people have that she was Winston Churchill.”
Meanwhile, on competing station WPHT-1210 AM, the host Stensland’s Dawn She mocked what she called the “breathy tone” of Muir and co-host Linsey Davis, calling it “almost satirical.”
Similarly worried, Rich Zeoli, who also hosts a program on WPHT, sent to X during the debate on Tuesday night, live, criticizing the moderators.
“It would be awesome if moderators actually fact-checked Kamala Harris’ statements,” Zeoli wrote. He added, “Trump is debating three people right now. The moderators are on Kamala’s team.”
“Boredom and exhaustion”
Following criticism from moderators, Stensland said Trump squandered opportunities to score points against Harris during their debate.
Harris noted that people attending Trump rallies have been leaving early recently due to “boredom” and “exhaustion.”
Stensland said Trump should have responded, “Madam Vice President … the only time my supporters left a rally early was July 13th,” when the gunman in Butler shot at Trump and killed a firefighter standing next to him.
“Can you imagine what it would be like if Trump made such a powerful comeback?” Stensland asked.
Later on in her program, Stensland welcomed Elizabeth Pipkowhom Stensland described as a model and spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee.
Agreeing with this morning’s premise, Pipko said the debate moderators “pissed her off.”
Pipko added that moderators should have fact-checked Harris when she claimed Trump would support a nationwide abortion ban, adding that he never said that.
But Article in the New York Times published in February said Trump “has told advisers and allies he likes the idea of a nationwide ban on abortions after 16 weeks of pregnancy, with three exceptions: in cases of rape or incest or to save the life of the mother, according to two people with direct knowledge of Mr. Trump’s deliberations.”
While it was unclear whether Gallagher and Stensland thought Trump should participate in the second debate, Dom Giordano, another conservative talk show host on WPHT, wrote in fasting Wednesday morning on Program X: “Trump should hold another debate and prepare his team better.”
