Casey, McCormick agree to October debate

Senator Bob Casey Jr. AND Dave McCormick agreed to debate October 3 in Harrisburg.

The candidates will face off in the WHTM-TV (abc27) studios with a political editor Dennis Owens acting as moderator.

A release from Casey’s campaign said the three-term Democratic incumbent also agreed to debate his Republican rival on October 9 and 15 in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, respectively.

A McCormick campaign representative said she had not yet agreed to additional debates, though she added that the Republican had agreed to a debate with NBC station WPXI in Pittsburgh, to which Casey did not respond.

In a statement, Casey’s campaign said the senator “is proud to continue Pennsylvania’s long history of political debate and looks forward to making his case for re-election and engaging with his opponent on the issues that matter to the people of the Commonwealth.”

McCormick’s campaign released a statement that read: “From day one of our campaign, I promised Pennsylvanians complete transparency about my position on the most vital issues facing our commonwealth: food, gas and housing prices are hurting families, Joe Biden and Bob Casey’s open borders have allowed 4,000 Pennsylvanians to die from fentanyl overdoses, and their war on energy is destroying Pennsylvania jobs.

“This is a stark contrast to Bob Casey, who is too weak to stand up to the liberal agenda of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I can’t wait to bring that contrast to the debate stage for Pennsylvanians across the commonwealth to see.”

note: updated with information from the McCormick campaign, which has not agreed to additional debates.
