“13 Keys to the White House”: A Conversation with Allan Lichtman

Distinguished Professor of American History at American University, Dr. Allan Lichtman published 11 books and several hundred scientific articles.

He earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University with specializations in contemporary American history and quantitative methods.

Using these prediction methods, he created the “13 Keys to the White House,” which have correctly predicted the results of every U.S. presidential election since 1984.

This system consists of thirteen checkpoints that are intended to assess the situation of the country and its political system before the presidential election: if five or fewer checkpoints are false, the candidate of the current party is predicted to win the election, but if six or more checklist points are false, the candidate of the opposing party is predicted to win.

Voices of Reason spoke with Lichtman about its origins, how this system came into being, why there was an raise Vice President Kamala Harris saved one of the keys for the Democrats and discussed predictive modeling and polling.
