U.S. Senator J.D. Vance, the Republican Party’s vice presidential candidate, will return to Pennsylvania to deliver a speech in New Kensington on Thursday morning.
“The United States military is facing unprecedented recruiting challenges due to the dangerously liberal Harris-Biden administration,” former President Donald Trump’s campaign said in a press release. “For the past three and a half years, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have focused more on promoting their military wokeness agenda than on ensuring battlefield success.
Vance, a Marine veteran, is expected to join U.S. Reps. Jim Banks (R-Indiana), Brian Mast (R-Florida) and Michael Waltz (R-Florida), all three of whom are also military veterans.
Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign responded by linking the Trump-Vance campaign to “Project 2025,” the conservative Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for a Republican presidential administration.
“Now, Trump and Vance’s extreme Project 2025 agenda would cut hard-earned benefits and health care for veterans,” said Onotse Omoyeni, Pennsylvania Rapid Response director for Harris for President. “Vice President Harris and (vice presidential candidate) Gov. (Tim) Walz believe we should thank those who have served our country, not belittle them — which is why they will always fight to make sure our veterans and military families receive the benefits and respect they deserve.”
Thursday will be Vance’s second visit to the Keystone State since being tapped as Trump’s vice presidential running mate. His previous visit was in Philadelphia on August 6.
Trump will also go to the state There will be a rally in Wilkes-Barre on Saturdaywhich will be the seventh visit by the Republican Party presidential candidate.
Vance’s stop in western Pennsylvania on Thursday will be in a Republican-heavy region of the commonwealth. Despite losing Pennsylvania in 2020, Trump won Westmoreland County, home to New Kensington, 28 points on the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris ticket.
