(*10*)Ohio U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, former President Donald Trump’s running mate, urged voters on Sunday to take friends and family to the polls on Tuesday to “vote 10 times legally,” but Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was against it. -show at a rally in Delaware County.
(*10*)Event in Aston Township, same location as (*10*)Harris held a town hall last month(*10*)Vance and Trump Jr. were scheduled to appear, but the former president’s son, who regularly acted as a campaign surrogate, did not appear on the event’s broadcasts.
(*10*)Other speakers included Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, U.S. Senator Bill Haggery (Tennessee) and Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Lawrence Tabas. A Trump campaign spokesman did not immediately respond to a question about Trump Jr.’s absence.
(*10*)In his remarks, which lasted about 25 minutes, Vance touched on familiar themes of criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, saying Walz has the hardest job in American politics.
(*10*)“I’m sure you’ve had some tough days at work. Your arms hurt, your back is tired, but think about it. You never had to go out there and try to convince the American people that Kamala Harris could become president of the United States. It’s challenging,” Vance said.
(*10*)By comparison, Vance said he may have the easiest job in politics because he can compare Trump’s term as president to that of the Biden-Harris administration, arguing that the country’s economy was better for workers under Trump.
(*10*)In fact, the national economy is (*10*)he’s doing well(*10*)but Trump’s campaign focused on energy and food prices, which have failed to rebound from post-pandemic inflation-driven increases.
(*10*)Vance also criticized the current administration’s border policies, touting Trump’s promises to close the border and carry out mass deportations
(*10*)“If you came to this country illegally, pack your bags because you’re going home in three months. It’s that straightforward,” Vance said.
(*10*)Pennsylvania voters again took advantage of the opportunity to cast early, mass ballots in this election and recovered nearly 1.8 million mail-in and mail-in ballots, according to Sunday’s daily report from the Pennsylvania Department of State.
(*10*)The report found that the number of Republican voters who returned ballots was about 400,000 fewer than the number of Democratic voters, with more than 200,000 cast by unaffiliated voters.
(*10*)“You know, Pennsylvania, I think for the first time we have more people who haven’t voted early, more people who plan to vote on Election Day, and that’s fine. It’s November 5th. We have to get to the polls,” Vance told the crowd. “But here’s what I want you to do. I don’t want you to vote only for yourself and your family. I want every person here to come out and vote 10 times.”
(*10*)Vance said the statement would likely spark media accusations that he was endorsing large-scale voter fraud, but he told the crowd they had to go to the polls and bring nine friends or family members with them. He also seemed unaware that Pennsylvania law does not allow “early voting” as some other states do.
(*10*)“Listen, we have to make the Pennsylvania election too big to rig,” he said. “That’s the plan. We want to win over so many voters that no matter what garbage the Democrats pull in the final episodes, no matter how many lies they try to spread in the American media, we can make sure that the American people get a president who is worthy of leading the greatest country in the world “
(*10*)Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who campaigned in Philadelphia on Sunday, sharply criticized Vance and Trump, who held a rally in Lititz on Sunday morning.
(*10*)“I hope Donald Trump stops lying about our system, because every time he lies about it, it fuels online discussion, all sorts of conspiracy theories,” Shapiro told reporters. “His sidekick, JD Vance, is trying to reinforce them with his nonsensical rhetoric. Here’s the deal. Why not appeal to Pennsylvanians by sharing what you can do to improve their lives? Why don’t you go out and run your race instead of lying about our fellow Pennsylvanians who are working their asses off just to have a free and fair election?”
