Trump appoints Shapiro to the Governors’ Council

Given the fight shown during the campaign and early administration days, it seemed unlikely President Donald Trump will appoint Governor Josh Shapiro to any position.

Not so speedy, friend.

Trump appointed 10 governors, including Shapiro, to Double -sided Governors’ Council (COG) On Thursday. COG was established in Section of 1822 of the Act on the Authorization of National Defense of 2008 and implemented by the presidential executive ordinance 13528 in 2010. It includes 10 governors who cooperate with federal officials in order to solve problems related to the national guard, national security, defense Stepfather and homeland and preparing a disaster, reaction and recovery.

Keystone State Democrat was used with Ron Desantis (R-Fla.), Brian Kemp (R-Ga,), Jeff Landry (R-la.), Wes Moore (D-MD.), Gretchen Whitmer (D-mic.) Kathy Hochul (Dn.y.) i Henry McMaster (Rs.c.) for the council, which will be presided over Josh Stein (Dn.c.) i Glenn Youngkin (R-VA.).

The council met in Washington at the 30th plenary meeting on Thursday. 10 members heard comments from Rear admiral Jeffrey Novak; Rafael Leonardowho currently performs the duties of an assistant to the Secretary of Defense on defense and hemisphere; AND Alex MeyerDeputy Assistant of the President and Director of the White House of Intergovernmental Affairs.

During the meeting, the governors focused on strategic budget trends, the processes of improvement of communication and consultation between the Governors’ Council and the Defense Department, the priority of the National Guard and the coordination of response to a catastrophe between states and the federal government. Governors also focused on the priorities of the COG working groups: cyber security, military affairs and workforce.
