ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA – January 19, 2025 – State Representative Matt Gergely of Pittsburgh died on January 19, 2025 at the age of 45. First elected to the House of Representatives in 2023, Rep. Gergely was from the 35th District.vol district that includes McKeesport, Clairton, Munhall, Duquesne and Lincoln.
With sadness, the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus releases the following statement:
“We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Representative Matt Gergely and already miss him more than words can express. Serving in public office until the very end, Representative Gergely left an indelible mark on everyone who met him. McKeesport lost a great champion today. We wish his loved ones peace and comfort in mourning his untimely passing. May his memory be a blessing.”
According to the House Democratic Caucus, Rep. Gergely’s family has now requested privacy.
