The leader of the Democratic Senate Jay Costa laments the transition of the Trump’s National Package, begging Pennsylvanians to call Congress

Harrisburg, PA – July 1, 2025 – The US Senate has passed on Tuesday President Trump’s breakthrough packet of national policy according to voting 51-50sending him back to the American Chamber of Representatives before he goes to the president’s desk. The bill will reduce funds for critical programs such as Medicaid and Snap, while increasing public debt and reducing taxes for the richest Americans.

In response, the leader of the Democratic Senate Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) releases the following statement:

“My heart is broken and full of rage when I try to understand how fifty American senators and the Vice President of the United States can take care of breaking up care and food from people who entrusted them to fight for their best interests. I have difficulty imaging what will happen to Pennsylvania’s families, when the pantrian hospitals are empty That republicans in the foot.

Yesterday in Pennsylvania, the Democratic Senate gathered yesterday in the eastern wing of RotundaOn June 30, to condemn the effects that these cuts would have at Pennsylwanians, including threatening access to healthcare at least 300,000 Pennsylvania, who rely on Medicaid and 140,000 Pennsylvania who rely on Snap.
