Sunday has served as York County prosecutor since 2018 and is currently in his second term in office. Before joining the District Attorney’s Office, he worked as a law clerk in the York County Common Pleas Court. In 2013, he was appointed Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania by the U.S. Department of Justice.
In prosecuting cases related to the opioid epidemic, Sunday has taken a collaborative approach, working with other agencies, and a study from Indiana University of Pennsylvania found a decline in recidivism rates in York over the past five years, which he attributes to the district’s early probation program.
