All eyes are on the Keystone State as Pennsylvania is THIS a state that will be decisive in the 2024 presidential election.

Now the Commonwealth is in the spotlight as well, as Washington’s favorite parlor game is head of state.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is one of the main candidates taken into consideration when selecting Vice President Kamala Harris vice presidential candidate. And with that spotlight comes additional scrutiny of Shapiro’s background.

What are we watching

  • Shapiro is one of three governors still being considered for the second spot in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, alongside Harris.
  • Others include Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Arizona Senator Mark Kelly His name is also mentioned as a potential candidate for the number 2 position.
  • Harris announced that we start the Battleground State tour on Tuesdaystarting with Philadelphia. The announcement increased speculation that Shapiro would be elected.
  • Harris also suggested that I prefer “more of a managing partner” than conquering the electoral list.
  • There have been rumors that the campaign is urging Wall Street donors to write checks as soon as possible, referring to the financial principle of “pay to play” which prohibits contributions to ballots representing sitting governors like Shapiro, Beshear and Walz.

  • “He’s very independent and very smart,” said the retired St. Joseph’s University professor and political commentator Randall Miller he said. “He has a controlled, directed ambition. He doesn’t have to do that.”
  • “His brand is not a party brand,” said a political analyst Larry Ceisler says. “His rhetoric, while powerful, is much less fiery than most. Josh has the ability to see four steps ahead and around corners. He always has.”
  • There is no state where a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris swap would be more damaging than Pennsylvania, Republican strategist says Guy Ciarrocchi.
  • “If I were advising him, I wouldn’t get involved in this race,” said the chairman of the Westmoreland County Republican Party. Bill Bretz he said. “If I’m Josh Shapiro and I know he has presidential aspirations… I’m not sure I’d hitch my wagon to that ticket.”
