Harrisburg, PA – September 9, 2025 -Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware), in cooperation with Senator Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny), announced up-to-date regulations To protect Pennsylvania employees against growing threats associated with extreme heat.
In the case of worse years, longer heat waves and growing humidity, employees in various industries are increasingly exposed to risky conditions that can lead to heat exhaustion, heat stroke and other sedate health threats.
“These recipes are both practical and necessary,” said Senator Kearney. “Every Pennsylvanian deserves a safe and healthy workplace, and this means protecting people from the growing risk of extreme heat. After stuck the federal action, it is time for our community to become the acceleration and introduction of security that will save lives and ensure the safety of employees.”
“Every Pennsylvanian has the right to a safe workplace regardless of where they work,” said Senator Ponciottano. “The establishment of strong thermal protection standards ensures that employees do not have to choose between obtaining withdrawal and protection of their health.”
Legislation will require employers to develop and implement plans to prevent heat injuries and diseases. These plans will guarantee access to drinking water, rest areas and regular breaks to assist employees cope with high temperatures. The security will start when the heat indicator reaches 80 and expands as the conditions boost above 90 degrees, ensuring that employees will not be exceeded beyond unthreatening boundaries.
Recently, representatives of the state of Elizabeth Fiedler (D-Hiladelphia) and Jim Haddock (D-Lackawanna/Luzerne) introduced the legislation of a companion House to the proposed bill of the Senators Act (HB 1580).
