Northampton, PA – September 19, 2025 -Senator of State Nick Miller (D-Lehigh/Northampton) announced today the start of renovation in cooperation with the Department of Community and Economic Development in Pennsylvania (DCED) for the former building Bank Cement in Northampton Borough.
“For years, the former Bank Cement building was empty and unused, preventing it from achieving full potential for economic and housing opportunities,” said Senator Miller. “With the start of today’s renovation, Northampton Borough will significantly benefit from a mixed development development, which will cover 12 up-to-date apartments on the upper two floors, including ADA units, along with a commercial department with an area of 7,000 square feet on the first floor.
“This project is a huge win for Northampton Borough, creating a new center at Main Street, which will stimulate the revitalization of ÅšródmieÅ›cie,” said DCED regional director, Fadia Halma. “This is exactly the Main Street Matters program and why the governor of Shapiro fought for it in the last budget – encouraging the growth of ÅšródmieÅ›cie throughout the community that improves the quality of life of our inhabitants and gives new economic opportunities.”
Tony Pristash, mayor of Northampton, together with Vito Gallo with VGG Consulting, LLC and spokesman 2102 Main Street Development, LLC, published the following joint statement:
“This MSM grant is an amazing and exciting impulse for the Northampton district! With such a historic and significant structure like” Cement National Bank “, we will gladly start revitalization, which this building really deserves. We are expanding our gratitude to the governor of Shapiro, stamped, Senator Nick Miller and Northampton Birough Council. Cooperation with the Caddium and the developer to implement this very available prize when we try to create a stronger and healthier business community here in Northampton. “
Senator Miller in April announced that Northampton Borough will receive a subsidy for the development of districts of $ 1 million through the Commonwealth’s Main Street Matters (MSM) program.
The Main Street Matters program helps to improve Śródmieście areas, revitalizes historical structures and supports diminutive companies. The MSM program in Pennsylvania was founded in 2024 by the legislator and Governor of the Shapiro administration in order to revive projects such as the former Bank Cement Bank building on the main street of Northampton Borough in a mixed object.
