
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – January 7, 2025 – Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17) was sworn in today to a second full term representing Pennsylvania’s 17th Senatorial District at the State Capitol in Harrisburg.

About Senator Cappelletti:
Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti represents the 17th Senatorial District, which includes parts of Montgomery and Delaware counties. Senator Cappelletti is a lawyer with a master’s degree in public health and began her career in government serving on the East Norriton Board of Supervisors, where she led the conversation on police reform and the effective decriminalization of marijuana.
In the Pennsylvania Senate, Senator Cappelletti has prioritized the fight for protected and hearty communities, using her public health expertise to fight for action on climate change and address the growing epidemic of gun violence. Senator Cappelletti, who most recently served as the Democratic chairman of the Senate State Government Committee, is leading a discussion on expanding access to the ballot and combating disinformation about Pennsylvania’s elections.
As a staunch defender of reproductive rights and former policy director at Planned Parenthood, Senator Cappelletti continues to be on the front lines of the fight for reproductive freedoms and comprehensive health care in Pennsylvania. She serves as co-chair of the Women’s Health Caucus of Pennsylvania and fights for accessible and affordable health care, including reproductive health care, for all Pennsylvanians.
A lifelong Pennsylvanian, Senator Cappelletti grew up in Boyertown with her parents and older brother, where she graduated from Boyertown Area Senior High School. She attended Chestnut Hill College where she earned her bachelor’s degree, then earned a master’s degree in law and a master’s degree in public health from Temple University.
Senator Cappelletti made history during her first term by becoming the first person to give birth while serving as a senator in Pennsylvania when she gave birth to a daughter in March 2023. She currently lives in East Norriton with her husband, Gregory McQuiston, Senator A Navy veteran United States, her daughter Taglia and her two adorable rescue dogs, Luna and Luca.
