Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa celebrates the passage of the minimum wage bill in the House and calls for quick movement in the Senate

HARRISBURG, PA – March 24, 2026 – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa makes the following statement about the last passage HB 2189: :

“The PA House of Representatives today passed a minimum wage bill that supports working families, economic development and affordability in one swift move by sending HB 2189 to the Senate. Raising the PA minimum wage to $15 an hour is a top priority for Senate Democrats as we fight for an economy that works for every Pennsylvanian, and we are grateful to have allies in Governor Shapiro and House Democrats on this critical mission. We urge our Senate Republican colleagues to raise the issue bill to be voted on in the Senate as soon as possible. Senate Democrats are ready to vote on this bill now, so only one question remains: Where do Senate Republicans stand on supporting hard-working families in Pennsylvania?”
