Doylestown native Pink is expected to wrap up the Democratic National Convention’s musical lineup ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ speech at the nomination acceptance ceremony on Thursday.
Pink’s appearance was confirmed by a person familiar with the set, who agreed to comment on the band’s lineup but asked not to be identified.
R&B artist John Legend, a University of Pennsylvania graduate who got his start performing at Philadelphia’s Five Spot nightclub, is reportedly scheduled to perform Wednesday. Southwest Philly native Patti LaBelle performed her own set at the DNC on Tuesday.
Pink most recently performed in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
The pop singer expressed her support for Harris’ presidential bid last month during a fundraiser that drew more than 160,000 women to a 90-minute Zoom session that raised about $2 million.
“It’s not about which candidate is perfect,” she said. “It’s about which candidate is human and wants us all to remain human, which candidate inspires us to be better and which candidate inspires us to be worse.”
Pink, born Alecia Moore, endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020. She joins a host of other Pennsylvania-born celebrities who have endorsed Harris in this election, including Roots drummer Questlove and Abbot Primary School star Sheryl Lee Ralph.
