Rep. Scott Perry (R-10) heard better news.
The poll of 549 voters in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District shows that the incumbent president is not only trailing his unnamed “Democratic opponent,” but is currently in the red, with voters in Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties having minus 17 percent approval.
The Republicans vs. Perry The commission released the results of a poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, a firm affiliated with the Democratic Party, that took place on the ground on November 18-19.
In the district, Perry was seven percent behind “his Democratic opponent.” President Donald Trump just a year ago they were five points behind. Currently, four candidates have registered for the Democratic primary elections, in which the main candidate is the challenger in 2024 Janelle Stelson. The former television journalist received a favorability rating of plus-6 in the poll.
The other candidates are Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglasresident of Carlisle Jason Cassand veteran William Lillich.
Perry will also have to fend off a primary challenger Karen Daltona self-described moderate who was a House Republican lawmaker for 26 years.
“A new poll from the nationally respected firm Public Policy Polling couldn’t be worse for Scott Perry, showing he’s currently trailing 20% of the Republican primary vote and 57% of the Independent vote in the district,” said Republican v. Perry director Craig Snyder.
“50% of voters believe that Scott Perry has not been effective in advocating for his district, 60% are concerned about Perry’s responsiveness to voter needs, and 63% are concerned that Perry voted for a bill that puts 3 million Pennsylvanians at risk of losing their health insurance. There is clearly a growing consensus across the party lines in this district that it is time for Rep. Perry to go.”
Stelson’s campaign used the poll results.
“Janelle Stelson has dedicated her career to listening to Central Pennsylvanians,” she said Alma BakerStelson as congressional campaign manager. “That’s why voters trust Janelle to shake up a broken Washington, fight to cut costs and improve their lives in Congress. It’s clear Janelle has the momentum and resources to defeat Scott Perry and provide true representation for central Pennsylvania.”
A request for comment from Perry was not returned.
Perry won re-election in 2024 by 5,100 votes over Stelson.
