The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is back in full force Jeff Olsomer (R-Wayne/Pike) was sworn in as the chamber’s 203rd member on Tuesday morning.
Olsommer, owner of Olsommer Clarke Insurance Group for the past 24 years, was elected in the 139th District special election with 60.3% of the vote, defeating the Democratic candidate Robin Skibber.
He served as chairman of the Sterling Township Board of Supervisors and was a former director of the Wayne Education Foundation and the Wayne Economic Development Corporation.
“I am ready to get to work on behalf of the citizens of the 139th Legislative District,” Olsommer said. “I’m grateful to the people back home who sent me here, and it’s an honor to represent them.”
Olsommer replaces Joe Adams, who resigned from his position in February and will serve in this position until the end of his term. He is also the Republican Party’s candidate in the general election and will face Skibber in a rematch in November.
“The swearing-in of a new member is always a special occasion in the state House of Representatives,” he added. Speaker Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) said. “Newly sworn-in Representative Olsommer brings valuable experience from his work in local government and the private sector to our institution and will be a strong advocate for his neighbors in northeastern Pennsylvania.”
