NRCC names Mackenzie, Bresnahan, Mercuri on ‘Young Guns’ list

The National Republican Congressional Committee has announced its initial slate of 26 candidates for the 2024 Young Guns program, including three Republican candidates in Pennsylvania – a state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan and state Representative. Rob Mercury.

“The border, crime and cost of living crises of extreme Democrats in the House of Representatives have ruined the safety of Americans,” NRCC chairman said Richard Hudson. “Fortunately, Republican Party candidates are already well on their way to running winning campaigns that will expand our House majority in November.”

Mackenzie is demanding Representative Susan Wild (D-07) in the Lehigh Valley, while Bresnahan takes on Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-08) in the northeastern part of the Commonwealth. Mercury is facing Representative Chris Deluzio (D-17) in Allegheny County.

“I am very happy to be included in this year’s Young Guns,” said Mackenzie. “The race for this spot is becoming more competitive and important by the day.”

“If Northeastern Pennsylvania were San Francisco, Congressman Cartwright would be the perfect member of Congress. I am running to give #PA08 the representation it deserves,” Bresnahan said.

“I’m thrilled to be on the Young Gun list that’s most likely to move from blue to red,” said Mercuri. “PA-17 is rated as one of the spots with the best chance of moving in November, and with less than 100 days left, we’re more ready than ever to win!”

Young Gun is entering races across the country and working to equip candidates with the necessary tools to run successful, winning campaigns against their Democratic opponents.

The program requires candidates to work toward specific goals and meet criteria throughout the election cycle to ensure their campaigns remain competitive, well-funded and communicative in their districts.

In addition to Mackenzie, Bresnahan and Mercuri, Young Gun candidates include:
