Pedagogue Jennifer Mazzocco won the special election for the 42nd Legislative District for the remaining term Dan Millerwho resigned as judge of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
Mazzocco defeated Józef Leckenby81-18 to win the South Hills District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and facilitate maintain the Democrats’ one-seat majority in the chamber.
The Allerdice High School teacher and Dormont Borough Council president had charge of all 68 precincts in a district that included Baldwin, Mount Lebanon and Upper St. Parish townships. Clair and the communes of Castle Shannon and Dormont.
“Today’s victories show that 2025 is just the beginning as Pennsylvania Democrats continue to gain momentum across the commonwealth,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Eugene DePasquale. “This November, we are poised to win the vote, re-elect Governor Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Davis, and flip the Pennsylvania State Senate and four seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
