
Monroeville, PA, September 5, 2025 – Country Senator Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny), Stan Representative of John Inglis (D-Allegheny) and Stan Representative of Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington), together with Penndot representatives, today they honored the life and service of the overdue honorary book by (*51*) T. During the ceremony in the Whitehall Borough building, where they announced the designation of part of Pennsylvania Route 51 as Honorary (*51*) T. Book Memorial Highway.
“Raymond Book was an arranged veteran, a selected official and community leader, whose life is an example of sacrifice and service.” Said the senator of pisciottano. “Determining this highway in his honor ensures that his heritage and contribution will be remembered.”
(*51*) T. Book proudly served in the American army during World War II, winning the Medal of the victory of World War II and numerous other praise. After his honorary dismissal, he worked for over three decades in the steel industry in J&L Steel, before he built a successful career in real estate lasting over forty years.
In 1980, Book was elected to the Borough Whitehall council, which means the beginning of his long career in public service. Two years later he was elected to the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania, where he took three consecutive terms. During his term of office, he supported significant legislation, including a breakthrough project of the organ donor in Pennsylvania.
The book later served as the director of the Appeal Department of Real Estate and a member of Pennsylvania Real Estate Board. Even in retirement, he remained an dynamic volunteer, devoting countless hours of patients in local hospitals.
“By all the time serving his country, Commonwealth and his community, Raymond Book was an exemplary public official” said an Inglis representative. “We can proudly honor his life service thanks to this deserved marking of the highway.”
“Although I have never personally met the representative book by Raymond, my honor was to meet his family and through their life a contribution to his country, Whitehall community and family” said Kuzma representative. “Honor deserved!”
Penndot representatives also joined the ceremony to select the marking. “The department is honored to be part of this dedication ceremony, recognizing Raymond T. Book as a significant contribution to the family, community and country” He said that the executive director of Penndot District 11 Jason Zang. “From over 9,000 vehicles using this busy corridor each day, drivers will now see the marking of this part of the road as the Raymond T. Memorial Highway highway in Whitehall Borough for the upcoming generations.”
Linda Book, daughter of (*51*) T. Book, councilor Whitehall Borough and district manager in a representative of Kuzmy, took part in the family representation ceremony.
“On behalf of my family, there are countless words of love and respect that we could share about our father” SIide Linda Book. “First of all, the feelings and devotion that he showed us throughout his life will always reflect the love and pride that we keep for him.”
