Lee introduces articles of impeachment against Attorney General Bondi

Democrat from Pennsylvania Rep. Summer Lee (D-12) introduced articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday. The articles of impeachment outline several alleged crimes, including defiance of the Oversight Committee’s subpoena for full, unredacted disclosure Jeffrey Epstein case records, violation of the Epstein Transparency Act, abuse of investigative and prosecutorial power, defiance of federal court orders, and perjury in congressional testimony.

“The United States Attorney General has been entrusted with one of the most solemn duties in our democracy: to enforce the law fairly, impartially and without political influence. Instead, Pam Bondi is breaking the law to protect pedophiles and prosecute Trump’s political opponents,” Lee said. “It’s about accountability, transparency and justice. We deserve a justice system that serves the people, not one that is weaponized for political purposes.”

In January, congresswoman introduced an amendment treat Attorney General Bondi in civil contempt for failing to comply with the Oversight Committee’s request for dismissal Jeffery Epstein files. In accordance with the request submitted by Rep. Lee forced by movement in July 2025 – The Department of Justice is legally forced to release the full, unredacted Epstein files as of August 19, 2025.

The articles also detailed actions that constituted the politicization of the Department of Justice. These include firing career public officials at the Department of Justice and the FBI, ordering and conducting politically motivated investigations into the president’s alleged political opponents, closing investigations and dismissing lawsuits involving President Trump and his allies, and targeting journalists and protesters.

“An attorney general who defies Congress, disregards federal law and misleads the courts cannot remain in office,” he said Courtney HostetlerLegal Director for Freedom of speech for peoplewhose law organization assisted in drafting the articles. “The Constitution provides for impeachment precisely at moments like this, when the integrity of our justice system and the rule of law are at risk. We commend Congresswoman Lee for introducing articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pamela Bondi.”

The bill is co-financed by Representative Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.), Valeria Foushee (DN.C.), Dave Min (D-California), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), i Maxine Dexter (D-red.).

“Pam Bondi is complicit in the most egregious cover-up in American history, withholding documents revealing that a young woman suffered sexual assault by Donald Trump while she was a minor and spied on members of Congress carrying out their constitutional oversight duties. Bondi’s actions are not only disgusting and inappropriate, but also illegal, in direct violation of the Epstein Records Transparency Act and her oath of office. She should be immediately held accountable and prosecuted,” Ansari said.

“The Attorney General’s duty is to uphold the Constitution, protect civil and human rights, and ensure equal justice under the law, not to protect the powerful, shirk responsibility, or abuse the Department of Justice for political purposes,” Foushee said. “Under Attorney General Bondi’s corrupt leadership, the Department of Justice has lost the trust of the American people. Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse – and Renee Nicole Good, Alex Prettiand their families – deserve justice, and the American people deserve better. “Congress must fulfill its constitutional duty and remove Bondi from office immediately.”

Bondi together with Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnickwas called to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee as part of an investigation into the Justice Department’s handling of Epstein documents. Both are expected to cooperate.

“I am not impressed with Bondi in the Epstein files and I will make that absolutely clear when I testify about her,” he added. Rep. Nancy Mace (R.S.C.) said. “She lost a lot of support in the base [and] also here.

At the beginning of the month, Representative Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) also filed articles of impeachment against Bondi over her handling of the Epstein files. The three articles of impeachment accused Bondi of obstruction of Congress, dereliction of duty and obstruction of justice, and of weaponizing and politicizing the Justice Department.

“Her behavior is a spit in the face of all survivors, and we cannot allow it to continue,” he said.

Lee and Thanedar’s efforts are considered extremely long shots at best.
