It’s uncommon Josh Shapiro it allows outsiders to see behind the chilly veneer that he has carefully crafted.
Pennsylvania’s governor chooses his words carefully and delivers them in a way that some have described Barack Obama-in style. That took him from legislative assistant to state representative to attorney general to chief executive of the Keystone State.
It’s a novelty for someone to see the other side of 52-year-old Shapiro.
In a candid moment with Tim AlbertShapiro had some unusual comments on the topic Vice President Kamala Harris and her modern book, 107 days.
During an interview with Atlantic authorShapiro’s attitude visibly changed when Alberta wrote in her book that Harris “shot him several times.”
The writer shared with Shapiro that Harris “essentially accused him of measuring curtains, even inquiring about the hospitality of Pennsylvania artists at the vice president’s residence, of insisting that he ‘will be present for every decision’ Harris might make, and, more generally, of intercepting the conversation when she interviewed him for the job, to the point of reminding him that he would not be co-president.”
Letting his guard down, Shapiro blurted out about art: “She wrote that in her book? That’s complete bullshit.”
“I can tell you that her reports are just blatant lies.”
He defended his actions during a conversation with the former California attorney general, whom he had known for more than 20 years.
“I asked a lot of questions,” he told Albert. “Wouldn’t you ask questions if someone talked to you about forming a partnership and working together?”
Shapiro has a well-known reputation for being ambitious. However, Harris seemed to portray him in a different way – “selfish, petty and monomaniacally ambitious.”
Asked if he felt betrayed by Harris, Shapiro took off his gloves.
“I mean, she’s trying to sell books and protect her ass,” Alberta said.
According to the author, it was a long break.
“I shouldn’t have said ‘protect her ass.’ I think it’s inappropriate,” Shapiro said. His tone suddenly calmed. “She’s trying to sell books. Period.”
At a moment when Democrats are trying to find a winning message against President Donald Trump and his administration, Shapiro, one of the party’s shining stars, seemed to give it up.
An outspoken Trump critic, Shapiro also prided himself on never losing a lawsuit against the 45th and 47th presidents. He challenged Trump on withholding funding for Pennsylvania and SNAP beneficiaries.
His support reaches 60 percent and he is the favorite to win re-election next November.
After that, there is only one logical political step left.
A popular term-limited governor in the battleground of all battleground states seems like a natural choice for Democrats for their 2028 banner.
That’s why a mishap like Shapiro’s with Alberta makes a splash.
Trump lets stuff like this fly all the time.
Shapiro wants to make sure he stands out in every way.
