HD-193: Democrats select Crawley as candidate in special election

The race now takes place ahead of a March 17 special election to fill the 193rd Legislative District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Democratic Campaign Committee announced its nomination Todd Crawleyformer director of public and environmental health and safety at Harrisburg Area Community College.

Crawley, who was elected Neil Cliffordwill face a Republican Katarzyna Wallen in the competition to finish his term Torren Eckerwho resigned from the House to take a position on the Adams County Court of Common Pleas.

“My job has given me many experiences and lessons that I want to take with me to Harrisburg as the next representative from the 193rd District. I have created and implemented health and safety policies and procedures from scratch” – Crawley he told WHTM-TV. “As director of public and environmental health and safety, I was directly responsible for the well-being of 50,000 students, faculty and staff. I do not take this responsibility lightly. I will fight to make this a safe and pleasant state to live in for everyone in Pennsylvania. This applies to both the individual and the entire environment. I would seek legislation to block or place extreme restrictions on future data center installations to protect our environment and our health.”

“I brought in over a million dollars in grants,” Crawley said. “I know our former Representative never brought that kind of money to our district, but I know how to go out there and get it. Energy prices are skyrocketing, grocery and home prices are unaffordable. It’s time for the 193rd District to get the investment we deserve.”

The 193rd Legislative District includes the townships of Abbottstown, Arendtsville, Bendersville, Biglerville, East Berlin, New Oxford and York Springs, as well as the townships of Berwick, Butler, Hamilton, Huntington, Latimore, Menallen, Oxford, Reading and Tyrone in Adams County. The district also includes part of Cumberland County in Shippensburg Parish and the townships of Cooke, Dickinson, Penn, Shippensburg, South Newton and Southampton in Cumberland County.
