1. Discovered audio recordings appear to contradict Bresnahan’s stock trading claims
“Representative Rob Bresnahan (R-08), who faced a firestorm over hundreds of stock trades after his 2024 campaign over Congress’s stock trading ban pledge, insisted he was not talking to his financial advisor about the activity and that he had no influence on it.
But a little-noticed local radio interview from last April contradicts much of Bresnahan’s position on market movements.” | POLICY

His office says Shapiro has never browsed the Internet on state-owned devices. “Governor Josh Shapiro’s office says the governor never once browses the Internet using a state-owned cell phone, tablet or computer, a sweeping claim about his more than 1,100 days in office that, while technically possible, still defies common logic in the face of how work is typically done in the modern Internet era.” | Wide + Freedom

3. ICE Cooperation for Pennsylvania Debate

“Immigration enforcement operations across the United States – and the backlash they have sparked in some communities – have prompted local officials and state lawmakers in Pennsylvania to advance competing proposals for asylum policies and cooperation with federal authorities.
Dozens of immigration-related bills have been proposed or introduced in Harrisburg, and the debate is largely divided along party lines. Democratic proposals generally aim to limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement agencies and expand protections for all residents regardless of immigration status, while Republican proposals go in the opposite direction. | Central Square

5. This Haverford teacher had no black role models at school. Now he is a finalist for National Teacher of the Year

“Dozens of students in… Leon Smith The Advanced Placement African American Studies class explored Count Cullen’s conflicted emotions about his ancestral homeland, Africa, in his poem “The Inheritance.”
Smith challenged Haverford High School students to consider the intentions of a Harlem Renaissance poet. “You have to meet people where they are at,” Smith told students in class last month. “Once you do that, you can deliver the message you want to convey.”
Smith, a history teacher who has worked at Haverford High School for 25 years, has the opportunity to gain a much bigger platform: He is one of five finalists for National Teacher of the Year, an award presented by the Council of Principals of Primary Schools that would allow him to spend a year traveling the country promoting the teaching profession.’ | Questioner from Philadelphia
