Donald Trump to hold rally in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday

Former President Donald Trump will be Return to Pennsylvania on Saturday at a campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County. It was his second time in the Keystone State since surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler last month.

Trump rally planned for Wilkes-Barre will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Casey Plazaand doors are scheduled to open at noon Saturday. Trump is scheduled to speak at the rally around 4 p.m., his campaign announced Monday.

The announcement is made after Asset he commented last week that he plans to reduce the number of classes on his campaign calendar in the days leading up to the Democratic National Convention, which is set to take place Aug. 19-22 in Chicago. Trump has held a restricted number of campaign rallies since the Republican National Convention ended on July 18 and has faced criticism for the number of public appearances he has made since then.

Asked about the lack of participation in election rallies during press conference at Mar-a-Lago last weekTrump responded combatively, calling the investigation a “stupid question.”

“I am campaigning hard,” he added, pointing to media appearances and campaign ads as examples of his camp’s election efforts.

“President Trump has a packed travel schedule of rallies, messaging events and fundraisers in the coming week. He has more campaign events than [Harris] and Walz put together,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told CNBC last week.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign toured several key states across the country last week, kicking off the effort with a visit to Temple University’s Liacouras Center, where she made her first public appearance with her newly-selected vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Trump’s vice presidential pick, Sen. J.D. Vance (R., Ohio), appeared at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia that same day and later followed the Harris-Walz ticket on the road to hold events in similar locations.

Trump last appeared in Pennsylvania on July 31, holding a campaign rally at the New Holland Arena in Harrisburg. The event came just weeks after the attempted bombing in Butler that killed Corey Comperatore, a former Buffalo Township fire chief, and wounded two other men. Trump was grazed in the ear by a bullet fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa.

Ahead of the Harrisburg rally, Trump indicated in a post on Truth Social that he plans to return to Butler for another rally to honor Comperatore and two others wounded in the shooting. His campaign has not yet announced further details about his return to Butler.
