DNC flies anti-Project 2025 banner over Sunday’s Eagles game in Philadelphia to support Harris

On Sunday, the Democratic National Committee will fly a banner over a Philadelphia Eagles game in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate. Reading “Fly, birds! Release Project 2025! Vote for Kamala” – The DNC said the banner is part of a broader NFL campaign “meeting Pennsylvania voters where they are.”

The DNC also has a sky ad reading “Vote for Kamala” that is scheduled to hang over the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) game in Las Vegas, and it can target voters in two swing states – Pennsylvania and Nevada – with one message. The DNC plans flyovers at other swing-state NFL games on Sunday, which also feature teams from other swing states, including the Arizona Cardinals (2-3) at Green Bay (3-2) and the Atlanta Falcons (3-2). at the Carolina Panthers (1-4). At 1:00 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles (2-2) will face the Cleveland Browns (1-4)

This is the latest Democratic push that voters should continue to be reminded of Project 2025a conservative action plan for changing the federal government that includes, among other things, Congress passing the toughest abortion ban the next GOP administration can get. Harris’ campaign and the DNC have linked former President Donald Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, to Project 2025, even though he has repeatedly sought to distance himself from the proposal.

“It’s NFL Sunday, and Eagles fans across Pennsylvania are ready to abandon Donald Trump’s Project 2025 playbook and fight for their freedom with the Harris-Walz ticket,” DNC spokesman Cameron Niven said in a statement. “Trump’s Project 2025 agenda is a dangerous plan to give him unprecedented power over the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians, raise taxes on typical families by nearly $4,000 a year, and hand over taxes to his billionaire friends.”

The DNC has already used aerial campaign banners at 2024 sporting events, including ahead of a September Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park that read “Don’t hit with Trump, go to Bat 4 Harris.” The The Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 that evening. Also in September, the DNC raised a banner over Beaver Stadium reading “Penn St: Beat Trump, Sack Project 2025.” Penn State won this game 34-27 over Bowling Green.

The 2024 campaigns have focused heavily on Pennsylvania because of the state’s 19 electoral votes and its potential to swing toward either candidate. Harris will be in Erie on Monday, the same day Trump will campaign in Montgomery County.

The last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania for the November election is October 21. The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 29.
