U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-17th District) continues to lead in the fundraising race over Republican challenger, state Rep. Rob Mercuri.
Deluzio raised just under $675,000 from April 4 through the end of June, spending about $295,000, according to modern campaign finance reports.
Deluzio’s campaign has raised $3.01 million so far this election cycle and entered July with $1.87 million in cash. He has raised slightly less this quarter than he did in the first quarter, when from the beginning of January to April 3, he earned just under $760,000.
Mercuri, who was unopposed for the Republican Party nomination for the western Pennsylvania seat, just over $410,000 was raised from April 4 to the end of June, spending $150,000.
Mercuri’s campaign has raised $1.09 million since announcing his candidacy and entered July with just over $800,000. In the first quarter, Mercuri raised about $330,000 from the beginning of January to April 3.
Both parties have their eyes on the western Pennsylvania district.
Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC) The first slate of seats up for grabs in 2024 included Pennsylvania’s 17th congressional district, while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) nominated Deluzio one of the “sensitive” officials going to protect this cycle. However, he collected more than Mercuri in each quarter of the campaign.
National rating agencies such as Cook Political Report, Larry Sabato’s Crystal BallAND Inside the Elections all give Deluzio an advantage in the race, describing PA-17 as “Democratic-leaning.”
