
New York – New York controller and candidate for the Democratic Mayor Brad Lander was arrested by federal agents in the immigration court on Tuesday, when he tried to accompany a person from the courtroom.
A reporter from the Associated Press witnessed Lander’s arrest in a federal building in Manhattan. The Lander person left the courtroom, he was also arrested.
Lander spent the morning, watching interrogations in the immigration court and told the AP reporter that he was there to “accompany” some immigrants from the building.
The film from the arrest, captured by the AP reporter, shows the agent who tells Lander: “You employ”.
Lander replies when there is handcuffs: “I do not disturb, I stand here in the corridor.”
“You do not have the right to arrest US citizens with a request for a court order,” said Lander when he was led out of the corridor and to the elevator.
One of the officers who led Lander wore a tactical vest marked as a “federal agent”. Others were in ordinary cages, with surgical masks above their faces.
The episode took place as federal immigration officials lead Big -scale arrests outside the immigration room throughout the country.

Lander is a candidate in a democratic mayor in the city. Early voting in the competition is underway.
