While former President Donald Trump won the lion’s share of delegates, Republican challenger Nikki Haley pulled off an upset for the second time in recent days Vermont. President Joe Biden extended his winning streak, including: Iowa which announced the results of the first correspondence contest for Democratic presidential preferences.
In Colorado and Maine, the former president easily won the nomination and delegates. Both states had disqualified Trump from the Republican Party primary elections due to his role in the January 6, 2021 insurrection, but was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday.
Biden and Trump also won North Carolina, but the most watched race in the state was the gubernatorial primary. Voters fielded a wide range of candidates vying to become the state’s next governor in what is expected to be one of the most hotly contested and high-priced gubernatorial races in the country. Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a MAGA Republican with Trump’s endorsement, will face Attorney General Josh Stein, who led all candidates in polling and fundraising in his first term.
Here’s a look at the other states that hold primaries on Super Tuesday:
Alabama: The Democratic primary in the newly drawn 2nd Congressional District has ended in a runoff between former Justice Department official Shomari Figurs and Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels. In the State Supreme Court, Associate Justice Sarah Stewart defeated former state senator Bryan Taylor in the Republican primary for chief justice. Palmer, who reportedly campaigned in person on the remote Pacific island territory, received 51 of 91 votes cast, with Biden receiving the rest. The territory that gave former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg his only victory in 2020 will send six delegates to the Democratic convention this summer, but residents will not have a vote in November’s presidential election.

Katie Porter and Barbara Lee.

The option was introduced at the last minute as a backlash against Biden’s role in the Gaza war. However, the “disengaged” only made 7% of early gains and needed at least 15% to be rewarded with delegates.
Maine: Biden and Trump win easily. But whether votes for Trump would be counted was in doubt until Monday. Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows she withdrew her decision disqualification of the former president after the US Supreme Court’s decision in the Colorado case.

GOP polling results, which were due before midnight East Coast time, were still pending.
Vermont: Vermont was a glowing spot for Haley and only a slight bump in the road for Trump. It was the first state Haley won, stopping Trump’s lead in the Republican primary. Biden easily won among Democrats.
