Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan announced that she supports efforts to remove Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Now he joins all six other Pennsylvania Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives who have already registered as co-authors of the articles of impeachment.
The articles were submitted earlier this month by Illinois Rep. Robin Kelly, whose district includes parts of Chicago. Last year, the city dealt with intense actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol, including deploying a Blackhawk helicopter during a much-criticized raid on an apartment intricate.
Democratic support for Noem’s impeachment has grown since the killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis on Saturday by federal agents. Earlier Tuesday, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said the caucus would continue with the impeachment unless Noem resigns or is fired by President Donald Trump.
Democrats do not have the majority necessary to initiate impeachment proceedings without Republican support. The GOP has a five-seat advantage. A two-thirds vote in the Senate would be needed to convict.

Noem has faced ponderous criticism as head of the agency responsible for immigration enforcement. Last year I.C.E over 170 American citizens were detained, killed five people in shootingsand he had 32 people die in their custody. Lawsuits have also been filed over ICE’s aggressive employ of crowd control methods, such as the employ of tear gas and physical force, against protesters and journalists. Immigration agents were also photographed pointing firearms at protesters.
Noem also quickly characterized two citizens killed by federal agents in Minnesota: Loans AND Renee Goodas a “domestic terrorist”.[s]” committed violence against officers. She made similar comments in the hours after each shooting, before any investigations were completed, even though widely circulated videos appeared to contradict her claims.

Trump she reportedly met with Noah and her senior advisorCorey Lewandowski, for two hours Monday night as opposition grows over ICE’s tactics in Minneapolis and DHS’s treatment of shooting victims as domestic terrorists. The CNN report states that neither Noem’s nor Lewandowski’s job was in jeopardy.
Then there was a meeting demotion of Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino. He became the face of some of the agency’s most aggressive attacks on Democratic-led cities across the country, such as “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago and “Operation Metro Surge” in Minneapolis.
The name is was scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee in March.

As it stands, Pennsylvania’s 10 GOP House members broadly support the Trump administration’s deployment of federal immigration agents to U.S. cities far from the border. But support for the party has been waning since repeated shootings in Minneapolis.
Speaking on Newsmax Tuesday, Rep. Dan Meuser (R-09) said, “There have been some tragic situations that have happened in Minneapolis.” But he also said blame should go to “the fact that Biden let in 20 million illegal immigrants” and to local Democratic leaders who he said had “demonized ICE.”
Several others became more cautiously critical.
Shortly before the shooting, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-01) he told the New York Times. he would like to see ICE show “more compassion and empathy when enforcing the law.” On Tuesday he co-authored a bipartisan letter to Trump calling for comprehensive immigration reform, including providing “legal protection for millions of immigrants.”
Representatives Ryan Mackenzie (R-07) i Lloyd Smucker (R-11) called for an investigation into Saturday’s shooting.
In the U.S. Senate, Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman joined the growing chorus calling for Noem’s removal.

“President Trump: I am making a direct appeal for the immediate firing of Secretary Noem,” he said in a statement released Tuesday. “Americans have died. She betrays the core mission of DHS and destroys your legacy of border security. Do NOT make the mistake President Biden made by not firing the grossly incompetent DHS Secretary.”
That’s a reversal for Fetterman, who voted to confirm Noem to her position last January and is one of the staunchest Democratic supporters of this administration’s immigration agenda. he does though broken by his party’s calls to block DHS funding. The move would risk a partial government shutdown, something Fetterman would prefer to avoid.
Fetterman’s spokesman did not immediately respond to a question about whether he would support Noem’s impeachment.
Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Dave McCormick also joined the ranks of moderate Republicans calling for an investigation in the shooting of Pretti.
