McCormick won 55 of the state’s 67 counties, and Casey had bigs in Allegheny, Bucks, Center, Chester, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery and Philadelphia.

Casey’s dozen still shows the three-term Democrat ahead by just under 24,000 votes, but only by 0.43 percent, triggering the state’s mandatory recount law.

In four previous Pennsylvania statewide election reports:

This is the eighth instance of automatic recount since the enactment of Law 97 of 2004. In the four cases where a recount was carried out, the provisional election results were confirmed. These conversions and the costs of each were as follows:

  • Primary School 2022: Oz vs. McCormick, Republican U.S. Senate Race, $1,052,609
  • 2021 General: Dumas v. Crompton, Commonwealth Court, $1,117,180
