According to unofficial data, Allegheny state Republican Austin Davis won the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania.
The Associated Press called the race just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
According to unofficial results, Davis defeated fellow state representative Brian Sims of Philadelphia and Montgomery County banker and insurance agent Ray Sosa with 66.22 percent of the vote.
Davis, who has served in the state Legislature since 2018, entered the race for lieutenant governor in January with the support of the only Democratic gubernatorial candidate, state Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
The Democratic establishment is backing Josh Shapiro for governor. Will Dad follow him?
Davis and Shapiro will appear together on the Democratic ticket in the November general election, where they will face GOP candidate Doug Mastriano and the yet-to-be-determined winner of the GOP lieutenant governor race.
