I’ll be taking to a stage near you this fall – with three debates between them US Senator Bob Casey Jr. and Republican challenger Dave McCormick – we think.
While nothing has been formally set, both candidates released statements Thursday agreeing to three debates – one in Philadelphia, one in Pittsburgh and one in Harrisburg.
Casey, a three-term incumbent, opened the tender with a press release.
“Today, Senator Casey announced his intention to participate in three debates this fall – one each in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg – ahead of the November 5 general election.
Consistent with Pennsylvania’s proud history of political debate, Senator Casey is ready to make his case for re-election and looks forward to engaging his opponent on issues crucial to the Commonwealth.”
McCormick wasted no time responding in a tweet to the PoliticsPA post.
Nice to hear it. See you there. https://t.co/u1kp7QFG6w

In 2022, a Democrat John Fetterman and republican Mehmet Oz he took part in only one debate before the general election. In 2018, during Casey’s last successful run for the U.S. Senate, he debated a U.S. GOP challenger Rep. Lou Barletta twice before the general election.
Both candidates went on a bus trip to launch their general election campaigns. Casey is promoting his achievements in the U.S. Senate on his “On Our Side Road Trip,” while McCormick joined other GOP members in the “Fight For Pennsylvania’s Future” caravan.
The race will be one of the most closely watched races in the country, as well as one of the most exorbitant, with each campaign raising more than $5 million in the last cycle.
