President Biden to Address Philadelphia Teachers Union Sunday Meeting

President Joe Biden will visit Philadelphia on Sunday to attend a campaign event, President Joe Biden’s campaign confirmed.

Campaign officials did not provide details on Biden’s location, but sources told The Inquirer he plans to speak at a conference of the National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The visit came just over a week after the 81-year-old president performed poorly in a debate during which questions were raised about his age and his readiness to serve another four years in office.

Biden spoke at a rally in Raleigh the day after the debate, promising a comeback. He has several campaign events scheduled next week.

“Like millions of Americans, I know that when you fall, you get back up,” Biden told the crowd in a segment of his speech in which he said the campaign had turned into an ad.

Biden has visited Philadelphia, the largest city in the key swing state, multiple times during his presidency. But Sunday’s visit will be his first to Pennsylvania since the debate and will take place as position in the polls seems to be falling.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro has been a staunch defender of Biden over the past week, appearing in several media outlets. His name has also surfaced as one of several Democrats who could replace Biden on the ticket in the unlikely event he declines the nomination.
