Lanco Commissioner Josh Parsons Named Most Dangerous Election Denyer in Pennsylvania

Before the midterm elections All votes are local released “The 10 Most Dangerous Election Deniers in America” a list of the nation’s top 10 voter denialists at the federal, state and local levels who currently hold positions of power who could prevent eligible voters from voting and block the counting of their votes.

Among the top 10 is a Lancaster County commissioner Josh Parsons who has been called “Pennsylvania’s most dangerous election denier.” He joins a list that includes such eminent names as President Donald Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondiand Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The group’s website says it is a “nonpartisan organization that fights for free and fair elections at the state and local levels – because Americans choose their leaders, not the other way around.”

“Josh Parsons has made a career of overturning the will of the voters in Lancaster County,” said the local Pennsylvania director of All Voting Deborah Hinchey in a statement. “Coupled with his previous refusal to recertify previous elections even though the results were consistent with Commonwealth law, his extreme efforts to eliminate post boxes and restrict postal voting demonstrate the risk he can pose to voting access.

“Instead of giving Lancaster County residents greater access to the ballot, Parsons used the same tiresome lies and misinformation to make it harder for people to vote, and he is definitely someone we need to keep an eye on ahead of the 2026 midterm elections as we demand that he and his colleagues expand, not restrict, voter access.”

Parsons, who has served as a county commissioner since 2016, is a staunch supporter of President Trump and his policies. While he said Lanco’s 2020 election results were precise and fair, he said he couldn’t vouch for how other counties in the state conducted their elections.

Parsons and another Republican commissioner Ray D’Agostino teamed up to remove the county’s only absentee ballot drop box in 2022, despite opposition from Democrats and some civic groups. Vice Chairman of County Commissioners Parsons also openly criticized House Bill 77 of 2019, which introduced statewide no-excuse absentee ballots, and stated that Pennsylvania should return to a completely in-person voting process, excluding absentee ballots.

And during the 2022 Lancaster County primary election, he refused to recertify a result that was legal and included all legal votes, leading to a court order requiring compliance.

“This authoritarian election denial regime, led by Trump and supported by fake voters and conspiracy theorists, is desperately trying to stop people from voting so they can take more power and control our elections before we get to the polls,” said Executive Vice President of State Campaigns and Programs, Cynthia Traviso. “These election deniers are doing everything in their power to seize power. Trump and his election denial dogs are working overtime to prevent eligible American voters from voting and prevent eligible votes from being counted, spreading lies and disinformation about past election results, attempting to turn conspiracy theories into law, and creating barriers and burdens on local and state election officials who keep elections running smoothly, count our votes, and certify the elections in accordance with the U.S. Constitution and state laws.” “
